SCARBROUGH SURVIVES CAUTION-FILLED SEASON OPENER!
4/14: Joe Scarbrough and the #93 car appear to still have the momentum from their breakout rookie season as the team placed a respectable 3rd place at the season opening race at Langley Speedway. Scarbrough got things started off in his favor as he clinched his first pole of the year with a speed of 84.502 mph.
As the green flag waved, the white #93 car lead the 14-car field for several laps, until on lap 16 that reigning track champion Shawn Balluzzo and Chris Johnson managed to pass Scarbrough, reegating him to 3rd place...a position where Joe would retain to finish out the night. Johnson would eventually pass Balluzzo for the win with two laps to go, allowing him to have won two modified events in one weekend...the first being on Friday night at Southside Speedway.
This race proved the ever-so-important statement of running near the front keeps you out of trouble, as the race was filled with cautions. Of the 14 cars which started the race, only 7 cars managed to survive the event, and only the top three finishers managed to finish unscathed.
The #93 car takes a weekend off but the #30 car will return to action as Aftershock Motorsports participates in their first event with the Rolling Thunder Modifieds Series Presented by Red Man Moist Snuff this Saturday at East Carolina Motor Speedway in Robersonville, North Carolina.
