SCARBROUGH FINISHES A SOLID 3RD

Joe Scarbrough and the #30 Aftershock Motorsports team pulled off another solid top 5 this past Saturday in the B&C Seafood Modifieds race at Langley Speedway.  Starting from the 4th position, it didn’t take long for the golden #30 to begin advancing through the field, swiftly overtaking the #02 mod of Henry Jones for 3rd place on the first lap and then taking the 2nd spot away from #11 of Bubba Farmer on lap 5.

Once in the runner-up position, Scarbrough began to race down the leader #69 Rusty Wood who had managed to put several car lengths between himself and the 2nd place.  However this lead was soon evaporated as the #5 of Michael Leech hit the front stretch wall bringing out the first caution of the race on lap 8.  With the lead diminished, Scarbrough took advantage of the situation and managed an excellent restart with the intent of running down Wood.  Caution would again fly as the #11 car of Bubba Farmer spun coming out of turn 4.

As the battle for the lead was taking place, current point’s leader #57 Shawn Balluzzo was slowly creeping his way forward after being forced to start from the rear of the field due to some mechanical issues during qualifying. Balluzzo would later become a factor in the outcome of the race.

As another restart occurred, Joe managed to successfully hold of a charging #02 of Henry Jones while being unable to get a move on Wood.  He was able to get under Wood several times but was unable to hold his line and Wood overtook him as they came out of the turns.  While this 3-way battle was going on, the #57 of Shawn Balluzzo was cutting his way through the field and by lap 30 had gotten around Jones for 3rd position.  On lap 33, Balluzzo managed to get around Scarbrough for 2nd position and was hard charging Wood for the lead, ultimately getting around Wood with Scarbrough filing right behind Balluzzo attempting to file Wood back to third, however after several side-by-side laps, Wood was able to fend off Scarbrough for the position and was able to hold onto it to finish 2nd behind Balluzzo.

The #30 team performed excellent yet again, scoring their 7th top-5 of the season and 5th top-3 finish in their first year of competition.

The next, and final race of the 2007 season will be held October 6th.
